The publisher of the Windows Phone version is listed as IG Mobile. However, the official version was created by Vietnam-based developer Dong Nguyen, and is currently available only on iOS and Android devices.
In addition, on Friday, Nguyen tweeted:
I would like to sorry WP users for the late of WP build. I am trying hard to make it happen. Thus, it's pretty certain that the Windows Phone Flappy Bird is a faux version.
That being said it currently has over 3,000 reviews and a 4.5 star (out of five) rating.
The game reportedly took Nguyen just two or three days to write, and is now taking in about $50,000 a day in advertising revenue (the app is ad-supported and there is no in-app purchase to eliminate the ads).
Despite its 50 million plus download figure, the game is hardly complex. That being said, it's really difficult.
While you shouldn't expect great graphics, you should expect frustration. You tap the screen to move a tiny, awkwardly represented yellow bird through gaps between pipes. Navigate safely through the obstacles and all is well. Make a mistake and touch a pipe, and Flappy Bird ends up nosediving into the group after a loud smack.
