Now, we can already imagine that Android fans will likely call the iPhone 5C the iPhone "cheap" or some other nickname, but the "C" could also refer to "color." The lower-cost iPhone is reported to break ranks with other iPhones, and ship in multiple colors.
The image was first discovered on the forums of Chinese site WeiPhone by Japanese site Macotakara. There is no way to determine the veracity of the image, but the logo in the image does have a decidedly Apple-ish look.
It's still unclear when the budget iPhone or Apple's top-of-the-line iPhone 5S will ship. Last week, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the low-cost iPhone and the iPad 5 would ship in early September with the iPhone 5S coming later, due to production difficulties. MacRumors agreed, giving Sept. 6 as a possible date.
While Kuo has had an excellent track record, and reports of production beginning on both models have already surfaced, The Loop's Jim Dalrymple quickly put an end to that speculation.
Oft-cited for his accuracy, in response to the Sept. 6 speculation, he wrote simply "Nope." Dalrymple frequently responds with such one word missives, which in this case means "No, it's not Sept. 6." Another possibility with rumors that iOS 7 would launch in early September, which might -- might -- point to an iPhone launch in mid-September.
As always around this time, iDevice rumors are in full force.
