Evernote notes the launch of Google Keep

Evernote probably has nothing to fear, considering it has 10 million plus downloads on Google Play, and an iOS version that Google still doesn't have, but it surely took notice on Wednesday. Google (again) announced Google Keep, an obvious Evernote clone for the Web and Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and higher.

Those running the latest version of Android, meaning 4.2, get an extra bonus: There's a lock screen widget allowing users to add notes quickly, without unlocking the device.


Notably, Google accidentally leaked the release a few days early -- which is where the "again" note comes from.  Naturally, we also expect an iOS app to eventually be released.

That http://drive.google.com/keep link is important for other reasons. You can add and edit notes on the Web there.

One missing feature would be to be able to see your Keep notes at your main Google Drive page or in your Google Drive app that you might have attached as a drive on your laptop or desktop. At least for now, we couldn't find any way to do either.
