The 16-year-old gymnast has been quite busy on Instagram, uploading photos of herself and her teammates as they explore London. While a gold medalist as a member of the U.S. women's gymnastics team, Maroney failed - barely - to win gold in the women's individual vault event when she fell on her second attempt.
She lost the gold to Romania's Sandra Izbasa, who finished with a 15.191, while Maroney had a 15.083. Maroney's first vault, her signature Amanar, which only a handful of gymnasts in the world, even attempt earned her a first vault score of 15.866. If she had just had an "average" vault, and not fallen, Maroney would have won easily.
It was Maroney's expression while on the podium accepting her second-place silver medal that earned her the meme.
Aside from the one Instagram picture that showed her own take on the meme, posted two days ago, everything else has been just a teen having fun with her friends and teammates at the Olympics.
Thanks to Webstagram, a Web-based Instagram viewer, even those without accounts can see her images, and they have been. She has nearly 270,000 followers at the time of this writing.
One image shows her and women's all-around champ Gabby Douglas sticking out their tongues. Another shows the team looking at what appears to be Douglas' Corn Flakes box.

The team seemed to have quite a lot of fun at the Olympics, which ended on Sunday. Admittedly, the “McKayla Maroney is not Impressed" meme has given a lot of laughs to Internet visitors, as well.
