AT&T 'all-hands-on-deck' policy starting in mid-September points to the iPhone 5

AT&T is lending its weight to the evidence that Apple's iPhone 5 will launch in mid-September (Sept. 12, to be exact, with retail release on Sept. 21). Typical of these major device launches, AT&T has an all-hands-on-deck policy in place beginning in the middle of September and lasting through the end of October.

This is the same sort of thing we've seen before for iPhone or iPad launches, and naturally won't isolated to AT&T, either. Last year, we reported both AT&T and Apple vacation blackouts that pointed to the approximate time of the iPhone 4S launch.

Of course, back then we were assuming that it would be the iPhone 5 that would be launched, not the iPhone 4S. Apple has been saving the 5 for this year, unless of course they decide to call it the "new iPhone," as they did with the "new iPad."

In addition to the vacation blackout, a large training event for regional employees has been rescheduled from the first week of October due to a conflict with a “huge announcement.” What could that announcement possibly be?

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5, and perhaps the iPad mini, a new iPod touch, a new iPad nano, and maybe even a redesigned (with the new smaller dock connector) iPad on Sept. 12, with pre-orders beginning that day. The device's first retail appearance will be Sept. 21, if all goes as rumored.
