Amazon Appstore's Free App of the Day, 8/1/: Cross Fingers has promised to make a paid app free every day in the Amazon Appstore, and today's app is Cross Fingers.

Cross Fingers is priced at $1.99 in Google Play. It is normally priced at $1.99 in the Amazon Appstore. As we've noted before, there are sometimes differences in pricing and availability between the two marketplaces.

Cross Fingers is described as follows:
Cross Fingers is a unique game which challenges you to combine solid pieces in a gigantic tangram puzzle. You will need to exercise your brain, imagination and your reflexes and dexterity to complete all 120 levels! To complete a puzzle, combine the bright pieces of wood so they fill the dark background shape. But watch out: the red pieces snap back to their initial positions, so you may have to hold them in place. Fingers crossed!

Cross Fingers has a rating of 2.6 stars in Google Play and has 2.9 stars in the Amazon Appstore.

Comments on Google Play indicate that people who have tried the app on both Android and iOS are seriously disappointed with the Android version. We might "buy" this while it was free, simply based on the "promise" of the iOS version.

There is also a version of Cross Fingers in the iOS App Store. There, it's only $0.99, and has 5 stars for the current version and 4.5 stars overall. It has a number of in-app purchases, however.

Those who are considering "buying" a Free Amazon Appstore app might want to consider what it means to developers. opened up the Appstore despite a lawsuit by Apple, which has previously trademarked the term "App Store." Microsoft has filed an appeal against that trademark, saying the term is too generic. has responded to the lawsuit in the same manner.
