Obama's Facebook page converted to Timeline, just in time for new birth certificate controversy

U.S. President Barack Obama converted his Facebook page to the timeline format Thursday morning, a day after the timeline option became available for branded pages.

Timeline changes a user ... or brand's ... default profile from a list of the most recent updates to a complete summary of a user's entire Facebook life, going all the way back to birth, if so desired. Timeline's algorithm assesses the most important moments of a user's life; a user can edit those, adding missing life events, or removing unwanted updates, hiding them from the Timeline.

Obama's cover photo is a graph that highlights the president's job creation record. Perhaps the most interesting, and a jab at birthers, is what you'll see if you click on "Born" in his timeline. It will take you to an image of a coffee mug with the President's long form birth certificate emblazoned on it.

It couldn't come at a more perfect time, speaking of Timeline and the Obama birth certificate. On Thursday, Maricopa County (AZ) Sheriff Joe Arpaio, a staunch right-winger, unveiled the preliminary results of an investigation into the authenticity of President Barack Obama's birth certificate, and as you might expect, he said he couldn't vouch for it.

Not only did Arpaio contend that there was probable cause to believe Obama's long-form birth certificate, which was released by the White House in April 2011, is a computer-generated forgery, he also said the selective service card completed by Obama in 1980 in Hawaii is also most likely a forgery.

Arpaio's volunteer "cold case posse" was examining the version uploaded to the Internet.  Of course, as pointed out by a commenter at HotAir,

“[I]f you remember Rathergate, you will remember that all document certification professionals agree that a copy of an original can *never* be certified as an original or a fake, since too many uncertainties are created by the duplication process. Only the original can be certified; the failure to ask to see the original is pretty good proof that this commission was a joke right from the get-go.”
