April, and the other March 23. Neither one of these dates would fit Apple's 2011 history, but then again, Apple runs to its own beat.
In 2011, Apple unveiled the iPad 2 to the world on March 2, and then shipped the device the following Friday. Notably, there was no online pre-ordering of the iPad 2, which many hope is NTO the case in 2012.
If Apple were to announce the device on March 7, as expected, if it holds to 2011 dates, it would ship the device in the U.S. on March 16. The international launch would then come on March 30, fitting approximately between the two rumored dates.
That's probably the biggest rumor of the day. Aside from that, the same rehashed rumors continue to be spit out by the media, some of them contradicting each other. These are the most common:
Retina display of 2,048 x 1,536
Quad-core A6 processor or
Dual-core A5X processor
Same form factor but slightly slimmer or
Same form factor but slightly thicker
8MP rear-facing camera
The one thing that seems relatively etched in stone: it's an iDevice, so any rumor, even a rehashed one, is big news. We'll know more come March 7.
