Rovio's Angry Birds for Android rolled out on Friday, although there were some issues with Getjar going down, because of the overwhelming response. The Android Market statistics don't go any higher than "> 250.000 downloads," so its impossible to tell from that how many downloads there really were. Rovio, however, Tweeted the number: over 1 million downloads on Day One.
Of course, Angry Birds for Android's full version is free. In the App Store, it's $0.99. In either store, it's a wildly popular game. Still, the decision by Rovio to make the game ad-supported has to call into question the Android Market: it's already been noted several times how many more apps are free and ad-supported on the Android Market vs. the App Store.
