Target is selling all the available iPad models, meaning the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions of both the wi-fi ($499, $599, $699) and wi-fi + 3G models ($629, $729, $829). As we indicated earlier, if you want an iPad, and are going to buy it from Target, unless you desperately need it now, you should wait. Why, you might ask?
Earlier, Target said that its previously announced 5 percent discount program for users of Target's REDcard store credit card will cover the iPad as well. That program gives REDcard users 5 percent off everything, every day, and rolls out Oct. 17. 5 percent off the $500 model is work $25 bucks. Off the highest priced $829 model, it's a savings of $41.50. Hey, money's money, especially in a recession.
Meanwhile, Target's biggest rival, Wal-Mart, which previously said it wanted the iPad, is still on the outside looking in. We'll see if this changes before the holiday shopping season officially launches on Black Friday.
