First person in NYC iPad line also first for original iPhone

These are the folks that Apple counts on to make the day of launch for any of their products a smash: people who will wait in line for days for a product launch. Cue Greg Packer, who is the first in line for the iPad outside Apple's flagship New York City store. He was also the first in line in 2007 for the first-gen iPhone.

He was dubbed iLoser way back in 2007. Then, while sitting in line (for days) might be just a tad bit overly fanboyish, this is truly, at the least, a waste of time: Apple will deliver iPads on Saturday for free, so why not just wait for it to be delivered.

The obvious reason: notoriety (of a sort). Greg Packer, after all, even has a Wikipedia page. He's gained some fame, as well, due to his "hobby" of attending public events and being first in line on such occasions, making him a "man on the street" interview favorite as well.

Greg Packer is reportedly a highway maintenance worker. How he manages to get the time off and doesn't care if he risks his job by doing so in this recession is beyond us. Perhaps his employer doesn't care. Some might.

Additionally, some, like us, might value our personal time more than Packer does.
