Whatever you think about the election, or the fact that John McCain has publicly admitted he's computer illiterate (some have questioned whether or not the role of President now requires being tech-savvy), this is a pretty snazzy iPhone app.According to the details for the app at Apple's App Store, it:
- Organizes and prioritizes your contacts by key battleground states
- Keeps track of stats for calls made this way ... the data is anonymously sent back to servers which track the info, that can then be viewed through the app
- "Get Involved" uses the iphone's GPS-based location sensing to find the nearest Obama campaign headquarters
- "Local events" does for campaign events in your area
- The "Media" section provides links to video and photos
- "Issues" is a guide to Obama's positions on various issues
This is just another way this Election season is seeing more and more use of technology, whether it's the placement of campaign ads on YouTube, Hillary Clinton announcing her candidacy via video, Obama text messaging his VP pick, or whatever.
And whatever you think, it's a pretty polished app. And Steve Jobs, left-leaning as he is, had Apple give any help to the Obama campaign for this app? Certainly, he's gotta be nodding in approval.
