Priced and dated: The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T in the U.K.

A release date is now known for the Asus Transformer Pad TF701T, which is Asus' top-of-the-line tablet for 2013. The problem is the date is for the U.K. market (although U.K. Android fans are likely happy). The device will begin shipping in the U.K. on Oct. 21, Android Central said Tuesday.

Price-wise, it will sell for £429.99, which works out to be about $690 in U.S. dollars. We'd expect that price to be lower in the U.S., but spec-wise, the device is still impressive.

The TF701T ships with a 2,560 x 1,600 resolution 10.1-inch IPS display that matches Google's current Nexus 10. Inside, Asus is again using an NVIDIA SOC, with a Tegra 4 chip. It also comes with 32GB of internal storage and microSD along with full-sized SD card slots, along with a USB 3.0 port, HDMI out, a front-facing 1.2MP camera and a rear-facing 5MP camera.

As befits its Transformer name and heritage, the TF701T ships with a keyboard dock -- standard -- with extra battery power. The combo of the dock and the tablet adds up to a claimed 17 hours of battery life, with the tablet alone having 13 hours of battery life.
