The invitation (above), sent to the media on Thursday, shows the barely visible words "See What's Next" against a light blue background. In a darker blue sidebar, is the text “The Nokia Lumia story continues.”
The event will be held in London.
It's another step in Nokia's path back to relevancy -- if it ever gets there. Its Lumia line of Windows Phone smartphones have been critically praised, and it's partnership with Microsoft gives it an inside track to changes in the OS, and even input into new versions.
However, despite that, consumers have not flocked to the Lumia line. Microsoft’s operating system as a whole -- not just Nokia -- has been growing, but slower than either Nokia or Microsoft would like.
The choice of timing could, perhaps, be better. Google I/O opens the following day, on May 15 and runs through May 17. BlackBerry Live 2013 runs from May 14 - 16.
