Grand Theft Auto V is not due out until the spring of 2013, but on Monday, developer Rockstar Games gave gamers a Christmas present: five new screenshots from the game.

The game going to have planes and automobiles, but perhaps not trains (sorry to those who remember the Steve Martin - John Candy comedy). It will, however, include sharks and what appear to be jet fighters.

GTA V features -- for the first time -- three playable characters. Not much is known about the game, but it will take place in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California. Rockstar has confirmed there will be multiple endings, and the gameplay will be about the same length as Red Dead Redemption, or around 25 - 30 hours for most.

In terms of the release date, Rockstar has been mum, but has not. The giant Internet retailer has posted the date of March 26, 2013 on its website (linked above) and also has sent emails detailing the date to those who have already pre-ordered the game.

The game's blurb on's website details what little we know:
Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious title in the series to date. Set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and the surrounding area, Grand Theft Auto V delivers a world of unprecedented scale and detail bursting with life, from mountaintops to the depths of the ocean.
