In the 2012 Black Friday ad, there are 48 pages of discounts, but Walmart is taking an interesting approach to the biggest brick-and-mortar shopping day of the year. The giant retailer is dividing the sale into three different events, which run consecutively.
Event 1 begins on Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day, at 8 p.m. local time. Included in this event will be deals on toys and bikes so that the entire family can have a chance to shop. Also included will be video game consoles, video games, and DVDs. Parents get deals too, with apparel, housewares, and appliances on sale.
Event 2 starts at 10 p.m. on Nov. 22 and is the gold-mine for people looking for electronics deals. These are the types of deals everyone wants, and the ones that are usually atop the list of people looking for bargains.
From 10 p.m. to 11 p.m., there will be a one-hour in-stock in-store guarantee of three great specials:
- iPad 2 with 16 GB Wifi for $399 plus a $75 Walmart gift card (no, you're not really getting a discount on the iPad 2, but you do get $75, sort of
- In-store only special Emerson 32-inch LCD TV, $148
- $38 LG Blu-ray player
Event 3 starts at 5 a.m. on Black Friday, Nov. 23, with more deals on HDTVs, clothes, jewelry.
