JC Penney's 2012 Black Friday ad leaps onto the Internet

"It only happens once a year," trumpets the JC Penney 2012 Black Friday ad, which leaked to the web on Saturday. The ad also broadcasts Black Friday hours of 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In addition, you'll be wearing buttons on Black Friday, at least at JC Penney. No, they won't be left over Mitt Romney or Barack Obama buttons from the recent presidential election. Instead the retailer will give away 80 million "gift buttons" at the register starting on Black Friday. Those buttons will give customers a seven-digit code they will enter at and possibly win a prize.

Sadly, JC Penney's ad doesn't have a lot of big ticket items listed, and features apparel (including shoes, outwear, sweaters, and more), jewelry, housewares and linens (most of which appears to discounted by 40 to 60 percent).

JC Penney is a chain of American mid-range department stores based in Plano, Texas. The company operates 1,107 department stores in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Prior to the Internet, the company previously operated the famous JC Penney catalog business. In addition to conventional merchandise, JC Penney stores often house leased departments belonging to other companies such as Sephora and Seattle's Best Coffee, as well as optical centers, portrait studios, and jewelry repair.

The 48 pages of ads are available here, in Scribd form and larger than could be posted directly here.
