iPad mini launch event officially scheduled for Oct. 23

As expected, on Tuesday Apple sent out press invitations to an event on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The invitation reads, "We've got a little more to show you."

That "little," we expect, refers to a little iPad, which analysts and press have dubbed the iPad mini. There are new rumors, though, that Apple will also use the event to unveil a new version of the iMac.

Still another rumor has Apple upgrading its "smaller," 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display, and it is also possible that the iPad will be updated to carry the new Lightning dock connector.

Still unknown in the story of the iPad mini are details about the device itself, but also pricing, which will be very important to Android tablet makers. A recent leak of a screenshot of an European inventory system seemed to point to a 249 euro price for the lowest-cost iPad mini, which could - if converted - mean a $320 price for that 8GB, wi-fi only model.

It could, however, instead mean a $249 price. The "new iPad," for example, is priced numerically the same between dollars and euros, as was pointed out by Gizmodo.

Not much is known about the tech specs of the iPad mini, either. It is known to sport a 7.85-inch screen, which is rumored to have a resolution of 1,024 x 768 (non-Retina). It is also expected to carry the new, smaller, Lightning dock connector.
