Amazon Appstore's Free App of the Day, 8/4/2012: Fruit Fling has promised to make a paid app free every day in the Amazon Appstore, and today's app is Fruit Fling.

Fruit Fling is priced at $0.99 in Google Play. It is normally priced at $0.99 in the Amazon Appstore. As we've noted before, there are sometimes differences in pricing and availability between the two marketplaces.

Fruit Fling is described as follows:
Are you clever, cunning, and quick on the draw? Do you like to fling fruit? Are you a human with an Android device? If so, then Fruit Fling is the game for you. This fast-paced game, which combines fruit-bursting action with puzzle-matching challenges, provides hours of fruity fun.

To play, you'll match fruit of the same color and make them explode. But do it before the fruits reach the top of the screen, or your game will be over. Use bombs, ice cubes, double fruits, fruit bats, and storm clouds to maximize your score.

Master 3 Game Modes

Arcade Mode: Can you beat your friends, acquaintances, frenemies, and ambivalent family members? Compete with them to see who can get the highest score.

Classic Mode: Play 24 levels of fruit-smashing fun! To challenge yourself, try to get a three-star score on each level.

Custom Mode: Here's where it gets really cool. Create your own level and design a custom-built experience for the most fruit-bursting satisfaction.

Fruit Fling offers oodles of fun for all ages. You'll need crack puzzle-solving skills and super-fast reflexes if you want to become top flinger. Good luck!
Fruit Fling has absolutely no rating in Google Play and a 2.6 star rating in the Amazon Appstore.

5% - 15% Off Select TVs
The app has no rating in Google Play because it has only between 10 - 50 installs. That's despite being introduced to Google Play in mid-April. It continues a trend of late in the Amazon Appstore, of picking apps (or being solicited by the devs) that have little to no uptake.

We're very disappointed in We'd like to see free versions of say, Office-compatible software or useful utilities such as WidgetLocker Lockscreen instead of niche apps or endless games.

There is also a version in the iOS App Store.  It is priced at $0.99, but has insufficient ratings to display.
