Chan has a tad fewer followers than Zuckerberg. She posted the same "life event" to her timeline, but had less than 17,000 likes by Sunday morning. On the other hand, Chan changed her profile image to show, not the image Zuckerberg posted, but another that showed the couple's feet after they switched out of wedding garb.
Zuckerberg ditched his traditional (and criticized) hoodie for the more traditional dark jacket and tie. Chan wore a sleeveless white wedding dress.
Zuckerberg, 28, and Chan, 27, met during Zuckerberg's sophomore year at Harvard University. The two have been dating since then, nearly a decade.
The wedding date had been set for months, but kept a secret from most. In fact, while it seemed that the date was cleverly planned as the day after Facebook's IPO, it apparently was not. A wedding guest told AP that it was coincidental, as the date of the IPO had been an unknown "moving target" when the wedding date was set.
As far as the secrecy around the wedding, guests who arrived at Mark Zuckerberg's Palo Alto home on Saturday, had thought they were attending a party to celebrate Chan's medical school graduation. Last Monday, Zuckerberg turned 28 and Chan graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, where she had been studying pediatrics.
There were fewer than 100 guests, and even those as high up as Facebook's COO Sheryl Sandberg were unaware the "party" was actually a wedding.
Don't worry, Facebook fans, the couple was quite honest: both changed their relationship status to "Married" rather quickly. You can find their respective pages here (Zuckerberg, Chan) as well as a slideshow of photos of the couple here.
