"Organizers, infographics, murals, and cake—now pinning all of the above for #Obama2012 on Pinterest: OFA.BO/iGnPG9"
The President’s Pinterest page is run by his Obama for America campaign staff and has eight boards, 40 pins, and 1,853 followers as of the time of this writing.
The boards include Obama-inspired recipes; Pet Lovers for Obama; Just the facts; Obama 2012 in action; Faces of change; The First Family; ObamArt and Obama 2012 Merch.
In February, according to comScore, Pinterest was the third-highest-gaining web property in terms of unique visitors, at 17.8 million unique visitors. Pinterest is the photo sharing digital pinboard site where users “pin” images to collections known “boards.”
In addition to Twitter and Facebook, Obama is a Google+ and Flickr member, and in August, the White House joined Foursquare. Obama 2012 has a Tumblr page, and in January, the POTUS launched an Instagram account. FLOTUS Michelle Obama also joined Twitter earlier this year.
Pinterest still requires an invite to join, but most folks receive an invitation from the site shortly after requesting one. We would expect that Obama received one in seconds.
