Next-gen iPad to be iPad HD: accessories OEM

The thing with Apple rumors is that, if they don't hit the market now, they may hit the market later. In mid-2011 a device called the iPad HD was rumored, one with a 2,048 x 1,536 display and little else changed, to launch with the next-gen iPhone. That never happened, but the name of the iPad 3 may in fact end up being the iPad HD, after all.

A purported parts list from Griffin, a third-party accessories maker, was Tweeted by Michael Fonfara on Thursday. Fonfara also claimed to have confirmed the name with Belkin, another third-party accessories maker, as well.

The name would make sense. While these manufacturers wouldn't be tipped off by Apple months in advance, over concerns of leaks, like this one, the timing, with Apple scheduled to have the iPad 3 (or iPad HD) launch event next Wednesday, would seem to be perfect. -Specializing in Cheap Flights
The name fits with the 2,048 x 1,536 resolution expected for the next-generation Apple tablet, as well. Of course, we will know nothing for sure until Apple CEO Tim Cook et. al. announces the new iPad. Apple is also expected to make some other announcements, such as continuing to sell the iPad 2 with a lower data storage tier, and a lower price.
