Samsung's super-sized Galaxy Note gets its promised Super Bowl ad

As promised, Samsung launched its Galaxy Note phone on Sunday, during the Super Bowl, and during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, no less. Those expecting it to be as snarky as the "hair gel" scene out of "There's Something About Mary" because of the presence of Bobby Farrelly --- well, you'd have been disappointed.

Actually, the "teaser" ad we saw earlier in the week was indeed the first part of the ad. That teaser ended at a person saying "whoa, whoa, whoa ..." when looking at something off-camera. It turns out it was not just the Galaxy Note, Samsung's huge 5.3-inch phone with a Super AMOLED screen, but it was someone drawing on the screen with the pen that's included.

We've seen the Galaxy Note, and used it, and we'll say this: the pen is great for some things, but we can already see that we have returned to the days when you will need to have a spare around.

It was a 90-second commercial, and among the celebrities and stars that showed up after the "whoa, whoa, whoa" moment were The Darkness’ lead singer, Justin Hawkins (along with The Darkness' song "I Believe in a Thing Called Love”), Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr, NfL star Brian Urlacher and pro skateboarder Paul Rodriguez.

Watch it below, and judge it for yourself. The Galaxy Note is available for pre-order on the AT&T network TODAY and will ship to retail in two weeks.
