Google commemorates John Lennon's 70th birthday with a musical Doodle

Google is celebrating John Lennon's birthday, a day early, though not on its U.S. site. If you go to the U.K. site, however, (http:/www.google.co.uk) you can see the musical interactive tribute.

The home page appears as above, with John Lennon peeking out, with his head representing the two O's in the Google logo. You'll note that the "e" in Google looks like a play button might on a media player.

Indeed, it does, and in fact, it is: if you click on the button, you'll start the player, a mini YouTube video player, in fact, and you'll hear the following lyrics from "Imagine":
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day, you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Tomorrow, October 9th, would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday. Fans worldwide plan to commemorate it. The anniversary of John Lennon's 70th birthday comes nearly two months, to the day, before the 30th anniversary of his murder by Mark David Chapman, who shot him on a New York City sidewalk on Dec. 8, 1980.

You can see the YouTube video which is embedded in today's Google Doodle below:
