So, we apparently had the date wrong. Apple has sent out invitations to the media for an event on Sept. 1, at 10 AM PDT. The cryptic guitar shown on the invite is the only clue, which points to the usual music-centric September event.

The September event usually focuses on music, and thus, the iPod and iPod touch. However, it's been
rumored that this event will also introduce a new 99-cent TV episode iTunes rental program, and an updated and cheaper Apple TV.
Other rumored intros at the event include a new iPod touch with FaceTime (probable, as it's time for a refresh anyway), cloud-based iTunes, a new MacBook Air, and an iPod shuffle update.
Time will tell.
