White models of Apple's new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected. It's unclear what the challenges are, but Apple CEO Steve Jobs is known as a perfectionist; perhaps they are simply not "white enough." Seriously, though, it appears white is a lot harder to get "just right."
Apple's Model T moment hasn't slowed sales of the latest iPhones. iPhones have been being delivered to customers since yesterday, and retail stores will have them in stock tomorrow, but with AT&T already indicating it will have none available for walk-up sales, until at least June 29th.
