Want a white iPhone 4? Get ready to wait

Those wondering when the white iPhone 4s will be available need wonder no longer. Apple released a statement on Wednesday saying it will be the second half of July before any can be in customer hands. The press release says:
White models of Apple's new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July. The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected.
It's unclear what the challenges are, but Apple CEO Steve Jobs is known as a perfectionist; perhaps they are simply not "white enough." Seriously, though, it appears white is a lot harder to get "just right."

The white model has not been available since the first day of pre-orders, June 15th. It had earlier been confirmed that neither Best Buy nor AT&T would have white iPhone 4s, but it had been hoped that Walmart might stock the white model. This press release seemingly puts the end to any such hopes.

Apple's Model T moment hasn't slowed sales of the latest iPhones. iPhones have been being delivered to customers since yesterday, and retail stores will have them in stock tomorrow, but with AT&T already indicating it will have none available for walk-up sales, until at least June 29th.
