Searches for news on lost next-gen iPhone targeted by virus writers

Those searching for information about Gray Powell, the man behind the "lost next-gen iPhone" should be careful. Malware writers are taking advantage of the news to try to load malware onto systems.

For example, since Gray Powell's role in this was determined by Facebook, the search for Gray Powell Facebook in Google has become popular. A look at a few of the results above reveals that Google has marked many of them as risky sites.

In fact, at the time of this writing, only two of the results on the first page result in sites that aren't marked with the note "This site may harm your computer."

It's not the first time that malware writers have chosen such a tactic. It won't be the last. The key is to be careful, pay attention to those notes, and make sure you have an updated antivirus on your system.
