Complaints About Poor Tech Support Greet The Nexus One

Google doesn't have a tech support line for any of its services. Everything is answered via email or support forums. This is causing major headaches for those who have purchased unlocked HTC Nexus Ones (AKA "Google Phones), as in that situation, you can't expect much help from T-Mobile, the carrier that subsidizes locked phones, and that means: no phone support.

Most people experiencing problems with their cell phone expect immediate support. After all, who wants to be out of touch? With no phone support, emailed responses to support queries can take a day or two.

Additionally, those who paid the $500+ premium for an unlocked phone are complaining, and perhaps quite rightly, that they should have a dedicated support line, after all that expense. Those wanted to talk to someone are relegated to calling HTC. Even those with T-Mobile contracts are complaining, saying that in the case of an issue they keep ping-ponging back and forth between HTC and T-Mobile.

It hasn't helped that while it became clear to users that there was some problem with 3G on T-Mobile's network with the Nexus One, Google and T-Mobile were silent until the weekend about it.
While ee already knew that while an HTC Nexus One (AKA Google Phone) could be purchased unlocked, the device wouldn't work in 3G on AT&T's network. Everyone assumed it would do so on T-Mobile's network, but ...

T-Mobile has finally acknowledged that there are issues with 3G on the Nexus One when running on their network. Others have noted that different handsets don't have the issue in the same location, so the theory is currently a handset issue. This sounds very much like the iPhone 3G issues that emerged when that device arrived, where much finger-pointing ensued.

Right now, the idea issue isn't known, but an antenna problem or a software problem could be at fault. That forum post linked above has 4 pages of responses to the moderator's request for feedback, which isn't that many, but it's been less than a week, right?
