While pundits continue to argue about text messaging while driving, and studies continue to show the dangers of combining the activities, all one really has to do is look at real-life incidents like this one.Texting while driving? That's not enough distraction for 25-year-old Nicholas Sparks. A western New York tow truck driver, he collided with another vehicle and then crashed into a swimming pool when he was texting on a cell phone and also talking on another.
Sparks hit the other car Wednesday morning in Lockport, which is outside Buffalo, NY. His tow truck then crashed through a fence and sideswiped a house before continuing on into an in-ground swimming pool.
The driver of the other car, 68-year-old Lily White suffered head injuries, but was apparently in good condition. Her eight-year-old niece, also riding in the car, suffered minor injuries.
Sparks was charged with reckless driving, talking on a cell phone (sans a hands-free setup per New York law, I assume) and following too closely.

People apparently are ignoring the fact that texting and driving is extremely dangerous. The injuries could have been a lot worse.
