Zune HD Specs Get More Detailed

Fairly hot on the heels of leaked images of what seemed to be a Zune HD ad campaign, another image, this time of the device itself has leaked. And it's been confirmed as a real image.

While the image that leaked to WMPowerUser.com seems to be sufficiently vetted, the specs: not so much. Assuming they are correct, the new Zune HD might actually give the iPod Touch a run. Nah, what am I thinking!?

Here are the specs per WMPowerUser.com:
  • multi-touch capacitive OLED screen, 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 3D Xbox game support (NVIDIA Tegra chipset rumored)
  • 16GB or 32GB of storage
  • playback of "HD media" available from Zune Marketplace
  • HD Radio
  • Wireless Sync
  • a browser (! Finally!)
  • launches "around September" in the US, Canada, UK, France, possibly other EU members
The site also says the Zune HD might use Windows Mobile, and perhaps even WinMo7. Now that could be interested. As I said previously, if they really take on the iPod Touch and use WinMo, that could lead to the oft-rumored Zune phone.

Although Zune fans at sites are drooling over these specs, it's still not going to make a dent in iPod (or if a Zune phone exists, iPhone) market share. It just won't. Deal with it.

And, of course, these specs are all very speculative.

amazing comment about Zune not denting sales. i don't debate the point, but i'm curious if you believe it's a question of quality or inertia. after using both (including my lovely iPhone) for the last several years, i'm surprised that people don't talk about the superior audio on the Zune. with the same headphones and audio content, Zune beats iPod. live with it! ;)

Hi, I just wanted to say that I love you blog, pretty much because you always keep me up-to-date about the new gadgets on the market. Can you give me some recommendations about what e-reader should I purchase? I need something to play music and read at the time.
