The CADIE Project Enhances Your Google Experience

Late Tuesday night, just before Midnight, Google unveiled the CADIE artificial intelligence project, or Cognitive Autoheuristic Distributed-Intelligence Entity. As they describe it:
Research group switches on world's first "artificial intelligence" tasked-array system.

For several years now a small research group has been working on some challenging problems in the areas of neural networking, natural language and autonomous problem-solving. Last fall this group achieved a significant breakthrough: a powerful new technique for solving reinforcement learning problems, resulting in the first functional global-scale neuro-evolutionary learning cluster.
CADIE seems to think it's best represented by a panda, for some reason.

The AI has infiltrated several Google services, such as Google's web browser, Chrome. CADIE has determined that one feature that the nascent browser is lacking (I personally want all Firefox extensions to work on it) is 3D support. And since CADIE determined that 81% of households had unused 3D glasses lying around, CADIE enhanced Google Chrome's functionality with a 3D setting.

Meanwhile, Gmail today gets Gmail Autopilot, which replies to your email better than you can.

Nifty, but what can else could you expect from the company that brought you Mail Goggles?

Also, through an extensive analysis of geographical data, CADIE has also determined a set of "recommended places for humans." I'm assuming this is not a comprehensive list as it's not that large. Hopefully it's not because CADIE does not aim to "Skynet" the rest of the world.

Determining that the picture feature "red-eye" was extremely popular, CADIE added "Auto Red-Eye" to Picasa, with the new version 4.1.

It doesn't mention CADIE, but YouTube's site will display any video that is linked from its home page upside-down. Even Microsoft's Lauren is upside-down. I would expect CADIE had a hand in this, unless Google / CADIE is letting YouTube have too much of a free rein.

Naturally, this is all tongue-in-cheek, as today is April Fool's Day. And that is even noted in the version of Picasa (4.1).

Strangely, Mail Goggles, as mentioned above, is not an April Fool's Day joke!
