"Baby Shaker" Pulled from the App Store

Ever feel like shaking a baby to death? The writer of this iPhone app must have. An app called "Baby Shaker," which somehow made it into the App Store Wednesday morning, has (thankfully) since been pulled.

The app was described as follows:
On a plane, on the bus, in a theater. Babies are everywhere you don't want them to be! They're always distracting you from preparing for that big presentation at work with their incessant crying. Before Baby Shaker there was nothing you could do about it.

Now, Baby Shaker gives you a charming drawing of a baby sure to make those with a less than iron will fawn. True to life, it begins to annoy you immediately. See how long you can endure his or her adorable cries before you just have to find a way to quiet the baby down!

Never, never shake a baby.
Thanks for that caveat. Besides the obvious question --- how the heck did this pass the approval process --- there's the --- why would someone be so depraved as to even write such an app?

Hopefully no one bought it before it was pulled; that would give me a greater reason to be disappointed in humanity.

On the other hand, this is just another example of how screwed-up the App Store approval process is. Finally, for those who might want to (ahem) email the author about this app, his email address is sikalosoft@gmail.com according to AppShopper.

Check out the video of the gameplay below.

This totally stupid application will probably only gain in notoriety because of all this and be downloaded a million times from other sources.

I'm sure that whoever approved this for sale at iTunes will surely be fired. As well they should.
