As I previously wrote, Nullriver's NetShare iPhone tethering app, which enables users to turn their iPhone into a modem, appeared then disappeared, and then reappeared on the App Store. But then, late Friday, it disappeared again, and as of the time of this writing, was still missing from the App Store.Nullriver appears to still be mystified, with their website indicating they still have no information from Apple as to why the application was removed from the App Store (twice).
Of course, as I suspected, the reason could lie in the terms of service for AT&T's plans:
The Terms and Conditions for AT&T's plans seems to include language that specifically forbids tethering (under the Prohibited and Permissible Uses section):
"Furthermore, plans (unless specifically designated for tethering usage) cannot be used for any applications that tether the device (through use of, including without limitation, connection kits, other phone/PDA-to-computer accessories, Bluetooth or any other wireless technology) to Personal Computers (including without limitation, laptops), or other equipment for any purpose."Seems like I'd better start asking my wife's relatives in France and Poland to keep an eye out for this app, eh?
