The Wii Fit has already hit one million in sales in Japan, but those of us here in the States lucky enough to have a Nintendo Wii who want a new way to lose some weight have been left out. Well, Nintendo has detailed a "partial" list of upcoming Wii and DS games through the first of half of 2008, and Wii Fit is on the list - though not nailed down to a specific month or date. For those who don't know Wii Fit is an example of "exergaming" that comes with a new controller called the Wii "Balance Board". The board is used for "an extensive array of fun and dynamic activities, including aerobics, yoga, muscle stretches and games."
So when are we going to see it? Nintendo only says Q2, 2008. At least that narrows it down to a 3 month period, but pessimist that I am I'll assume June 30th. That gives Nintendo time to address the only weak point for this in the U.S. - its 300 pound weight limit for the board. That's not gonna to fly for some in the obese U.S.
A sampling of other Wii games dated by Nintendo:
- Jan. 29: Bomberman Land from Hudson
- January: No More Heroes from Ubisoft
- January: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Hard Evidence from Ubisoft
- Feb. 12: WWII Aces from Destineer
- February: Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30from Ubisoft
- March 9: Super Smash Bros. Brawl from Nintendo
- March 10: Worms: A Space Oddity from THQ
- March: Alone in the Dark from Atari

Bleh! I can't stand the Wii at all, mainly due to the graphics and the weird game play, and from what I'm told they don't work to well with projectors. The Wii Fit I must agree is a great concept, but I can't see it as actually getting kids back into shape, a video game is a video game.
