A Canadian breast cancer charity, Rethink Breast Cancer, that urges people to "think differently about how to beat breast cancer" has launched a site to raise breast cancer awareness. The site, Booby Wall, wants women to show their breasts some TLC - and bare them as a sign of support as well.As Rethink's website says:
Women around the world are encouraged to touch and look at their breasts, and then take a picture of their breasts to upload to the Booby Wall. This ever-growing online gallery is designed to remind women about the importance of breast health. The Booby Wall is partially sponsored by Schick.
On the Booby Wall site, the group says:
Besides the gallery itself, the site also has educational materials, including how to give your breasts TLC (Touch, Look, Check) and examine them properly.Despite the newness of the site, there are already a significant number of pictures posted. You can mouse over them and see a message or "dedication" a poster may have added. Will it attract a prurient audience? Of course, there will be some who "tune in" to see naked breasts, but posters can post their images clothed or unclothed, and there are some who have obviously had mastectomies. These obviously aren't glamour shots.
One such photo, from Janet says "Four year survivor." Another, covered in lingerie, says "Jayne, for my sister."
